As an independent retail jewellery store with long term experience and old-fashioned values we try to offer services that are difficult to find elsewhere. Our combined expertise of dealing with customers jewellery and watches  exceed 80 years, so whilst none of us are ‘bench craftsmen’, we do know how to go about getting things done!

Jewellery Repairs: We employ a very experienced craftsman in a workshop in the jewellery quarter in Birmingham who we have known and used for a very long time. This is where the majority of our jewellery repairs and some manufacturing take place. Situated where he is, he is able to make use of other local skilled specialised craftsmen and for example gemstone dealers who can match and replace missing stones in jewellery.

Watch Repairs: We use a major trade watch-making workshop in Scotland for the majority of our watch repairs.  We have another very skilled watch-maker at our disposal who carries out repairs to high-quality brand and to vintage watches. However, with an acute shortage of skilled watch-makers in the country it is not unusual for watch repairs  to take four to six weeks, sometimes much longer.

Pearl & Bead Re-stringing: Our experienced pearl re-stringer calls each week

Valuations for Insurance: We employ a National Association of Goldsmiths Registered Valuer for the majority of our valuations and are able to offer home visits if required. Detailed valuations are carried out and include photographs as well as a considerable amount of detail, all presented in a booklet. Please ask about our charges.

Engraving: We again employ a very skilled hand-engraver based in Birmingham. Whether it is monogram on a pair of cufflinks, or a message inside a wedding band, or a very specialised crest or coat-of arms engraved into a signet ring, we can arrange it. For machine engraving, for example on trophy cups, we recommend our customers to go to Shoe-Box in Haslemere where Andy Nicolau has a very sophisticated computerised engraving system.

Watch Battery Fitting: In most cases this is carried out on the premises, usually with 20 minutes. Where a watch is required to be water-tested and probably have seal replaced we send it to our workshop in Scotland, usually returned with 14 days.

Jewellery Cleaning: We have an ultrasonic cleaner on the premises and where suitable are quite happy to put your jewellery in there for 20 minutes or so, without any charge (although you can always put a few coins in our Chase hospice care for children collecting box if you wish). In particular this removes the grime that seems to get into the back of your diamond ring, and makes it sparkle again.  Where more professional cleaning and polishing is required we send the items to our workshops.

Findings, Alterations & Simple Repairs: Between us we carry out lots of simple alterations and repairs on the premises. We keep lots of ‘findings’ in stock. Pins in watches, safety chains, re-glue pearls, watch bracelet alterations..... so long as it doesn’t require soldering or very specialised parts we can usually do it within the hour where practical.

Scrap Gold, Platinum & Silver: With prices recently at an all-time high, now is the time to turn that old jewellery in the bottom of your jewellery box into cash, or to receive a premium and part-exchange against a new piece of jewellery or a watch. Please ask for our current rates.
